Sunshine Blogger Award
I would like to send a big, huge thanks to Sara from Saradoeslife for this incredible nomination. I started my blog seven weeks ago and I mean really, what better way to be recognized than from a fellow blogger. She's vibrant, has a big beautiful smile and I can tell she's a joy to be around. She's getting off the couch and 'doing life' in a big way and its truly inspiring. At first I saw the post Sara made on IG and thought how cool, she's been nominated for an award and thought to myself ‘I wonder why she tagged me though?’ Lololol ! I wasn’t able to read her blog post until I got home and realized she had nominated me Lololol so needless to say, I'm stoked !! If you haven't heard of it, which is likely because its new to me, the Sunshine Blogger Award is given by bloggers to bloggers who are inspiring positive and creative in the blogging community. So here it goes ⬇️⬇️⬇️
1. Why did you start your blog?
I started because I had been dreaming about it for quite a few years. I wanted something to use as a creative outlet to channel all this energy into something productive and constructive and a space where I could express myself freely - the good , the bad and the ugly. Also to document my travels and happenings around town.
2. What is your favourite book?
My first answer and most honest answer would be the Bible. Reading and studying it has changed my life immensely. Two honorable mentions would be Siddhartha and Malcolm X because I came across them at pivotal points in my life. If you haven't, give all 3 a read. Warning though maybe you've heard this saying; the Bible is the only book that reads the reader.
3. What do you hope to accomplish for the rest of 2018?
I actually answer this question in an upcoming blog post. Since we're pretty much a quarter into the year I figured its time to think about what I want from the rest of this year. Stay tuned for that. Subscribe to my blog to get an update.
4. What are three highlights of where you live?
Definitely the weather, the beaches and the FOOD.
5. If you could meet anyone for coffee (alive or dead), who would it be and why?
I'd have to choose my fave person in the Bible, sorry not Jesus but Peter. I love Peter. I identify with Peter most. He's brutally honest, impulsive and passionate. He loved deeply and I just feel like we would've either been related or bff's .
6. What has been your biggest blogging challenge you had to overcome?
Starting. The mental roadblocks prevented me from starting years ago. I didn't think I was interesting enough, truthfully I still don't but I decided to give it a go regardless. Also, time. I have a very busy life, as do most people but I felt it would detract from the little time I had for other, more important things.
7. Is there a place you would love to go and live for a year?
Absolutely. I'd love to live in Thailand.
8. What things are you most grateful for in life?
I'm most grateful for my family and God's mercy.
9. What is your favourite Season, and why?
This is an easy one. Although its 100 degrees in the shade in Florida during summer time it is by far my fave season. Some would say that So. Flo is summer year around but its more nostalgic for me. When you're in school for 16+ years of your life your brain gets trained to look forward to summers. Its always been a break from the rat race ;things slow down and traffic is less congested and I spend way more of my days at the beach.
10. What advice would you give your 13 year old self?
Theres not much I did right or wrong at 13 but if I broadened this question to generally be talking to my younger self boy oh boy I could write an entire thesis on what I would tell my younger, teenage self. Where would I begin?? BTW, I totally wish I could do my teenage years over again.
First I would tell little Tia to be nice to your mom- she's gonna turn out to be your best friend. Silly little girl she's always protected and wanted whats best for you.
You'll feel pretty someday and although it may be hard to see pass that unibrow and all that acne you'll embrace the skin you're in.
Stop being so freaking emotional and think. So many things I did when I was younger based on my emotions and not based on sound reasoning. hashtag rewind. oh if only I could get a do-over.
When people show you who they are, believe them- you'll see that on an Oprah show way later in life and you'll instantly see the world and people differently.
You'll only need addition, subtraction, multiplication and occasionally division in real life. Don't waste your time learning that other stuff.
Wait for this boy named Courtney, you'll meet him when you turn 18 and love him forever.
Lastly, you should've taken that trip to Australia on your moms dime. You'll probably never see it when you get older.
Oh yea, learn another language, like legit, learn a few and I'll be darn if it kills you learn how to take a selfie, you'll be instafamous on this thing called Instagram. ☺️😂🤣
11. If you could live in a fictional world; what world would you choose and why?
I'd probably choose Disney World. Although its pretty real, you can't actually live there but if Disney World were a place to live in real life, I'd stay. I'd totally spend most of my time in Epcot exploring countries, then I'd hop on a few rollercoasters, hang out with my girlfriends Belle and Jasmine and end each night in my castle with my Prince Charming.
there you have it !! I hope you enjoyed my responses , honestly they weren’t truly meant to be enjoyed but more informative cuz I truly answered them openly and honestly so my hope is that if there’s any strangers following my blog other than my newly found blogger friend, Sara hopefully you learned a few new things about me. I’d love to keep this going but I really don’t follow many blogs- I’m honestly trying to keep up with my own! Here’s a few ladies that I’ve come across on IG and one I know personally !
My first nomination is for an old coworker of mine who goes by Kat - she runs a fashion blog called WearitandOwnit and just launched a sweater collection. She’s def doing her thang. She’s street and chic and her style is so effortless. We worked together for a short time but in that time I grew to love and respect her and her sense of style as we both tried to make our less than fashionable uniform more “us” and less uniformed lol . So Kat, I know your blog isn’t geared toward much conversation as it is more fashion and style but I’d like to present you with this award.
This next young lady I stumbled upon a few weeks ago and instantly loved her sense of style. It’s eclectic and cute, she’s Acacia at Lefthandglam . She recently celebrated her one year blogiversary and is fiercely taking the blogging world by storm. She's frugal, fashionable, and fabulous!
Next up is Sarah from Poeticallypetiteblog . She recently started back blogging and "though she be but little, she is fierce"- a quote taken from her blog by William Shakespeare. Although I know little to nothing about her, I do know she's petite and southern and she likes pink; thats three things we have in common, lol I forget if I found her or she found me but I've been following ever since.
I also really love Lisa a La Mode . I've been following her blog for quite some time and love all the content she creates. She's a lover of fashion and makeup but her blog is so much more. She's fierce and she's part of the reason I started my blog. She's open and honest with her followers about her life and just over all seems like a true, down-to-earth person. Don't believe me, go check her out.
I came across Ijeoma early last year as I was perusing the idea of blogging. She runs KlassyKinks and is truly killing it. Through all her collabs and sponsorships she's been true to herself and her followers. Really, I don't know how she juggles it all, she's seems to be a busy little bee. She's a PhD candidate and she loves to travel and in this short time have been so inspired by her.
Jessica at thecatchmeifyoucan is definitely worthy of a mention she's bold and vibrant and literally has been everywhere on this planet. Her IG travels tell enough stories and opens the world up to you through her posts. Go check her out and definitely follow. You'll be booking some trips and thanking us both later.
Last but definitely not least is Jana from ojandcigs . I found her before my blog as well on IG. She's miami based and is taking Miami by storm. I love love love to see her posts on IG. She's always artistic and unique. Her style cannot be duplicated. It's fresh and original and just overall she's a 'smooth operator.' Thats the best way to describe her, lol . Check out her IG.
